Saddle Creek opens transit facilities. (Logistics).(for Home Depot)(Brief Article)

Saddle Creek Corp., a provider of warehousing, transportation, contract packaging, and logistics services, will open two transit facilities for The Home Depot. The facilities are located in Clermont, FL, and Atlanta. Each is responsible for serving more than 100 stores in its geographic region.
"The purpose of the transit facilities is to facilitate high-efficiency crossdocking and consolidation of vendor inbound freight for transport to each individual store," says Rosa Hakala, The Home Depot's director of logistics, Southeast Division. "In addition, receiving and unloading efficiencies at the stores are also improved through streamlined consolidated deliveries containing many different vendors on one truck compared to each vendor shipping individually."...
