Reduced handling is the hot button for Guaranteed Overnight Delivery. G.O.D. says it can reduce claims and deliver earlier because its operations model, Handle One Time (H.O.T.)reduces handling by two thirds. G.O.D. operates 50 "Smart Yards" in the Northeast US which receive information from pick up requests and plan outbound trailers so they can be loaded in delivery route order. Shipments move essentially non-stop through the 650,000 square foot Smart Hub. Goods are essentially cross docked into trailers and dispatched faster as a result of a real-time dispatch system that provides shipment weight, cube, destination, and appointments from the pick up request.
