In the warehousing industry, management is challenged to balance the increasing numbers of SKUs (Stock Keeping Unit) against the expense of expanding the brick-and-mortar facility. The focus now is on reducing aisle sizes to provide increased cube density storage. Reducing aisle sizes from 12 feet to 10 feet to as little as 51/2 feet are becoming commonplace.
