Inbound logistics drives strong demand for transportation systems. (Front Page).

Transportation management systems (TMS) have always managed outbound shipments. And they still do. But now growth of this software is being driven by a new emphasis on inbound logistics, especially as warehouse managers look to cut costs by taking more control of shipments coming into their facilities.
That development is powering strength in TMS demand even as the overall market for supply chain software is in a slump, says Adrian Gonzalez, senior analyst for ARC Advisory Group (www.arcweb.com). Total sales of TMS solutions are expected to grow from $804.4 million in 2001 to $892.5 million this year.
