HTTP 1.1 approved.(Hypertext Transfer Protocol)(Internet/Web/Online Service Information)

We're all familiar with HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol). It's the application-level protocol that lets the World Wide Web transfer and manage the types of collaborative and hypermedia content that have made it such a great success. While the 1.0 version was a good starting point, as of July 7, 1999, a new version has been approved by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force, the standards body that coordinates most wide-ranging standards of this type).

Among the various improvements are two that affect those of us who make our living on the Web. First, it's faster. As page complexity increases, the demand for faster throughput increases. 1.1 provides a means of answering some of these speed concerns.
