ADA compliance investigations ongoing; states seek certification. (Americans with Disabilities Act)

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently investigating more than 900 complaints against public accommodations and commercial facilities under Title III of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). In addition, the department is also investigating nearly 800 complaints against units of state and local government under Title II of the act. Seven other federal agencies are also investigating Title II complaints.
Through lawsuits and both formal and informal settlement agreements, the DOJ has achieved greater access for disabled individuals in nearly 300 cases, according to the agency.
