A new music library fits snugly into the courtyard of Yale's main library
For 20 years, Yale University searched for a suitable site for its music library. Housed for years in the university's 82-year-old music school, the music library collection had outgrown its space by the early 1970s. By the early 1990s, its materials were housed in at least four different campus buildings.
Many venues were considered for a new home, but all proved inadequate. That is, until the spring of 1994, when the university librarian, who oversees Yale's 500,000-sq.-ft.
