Chemical Market Reporter, January, 1997
IVAX CORPORATION has received final marketing approval for the allergy medication terfenadine in 60 mg tablets from Food & Drug Administration. The company says it is the first to receive approval for terfenadine, which is the generic equivalent of Marion Merrell Dow's Seldane. Ivax generally prices its first-to-market generics approximately 30 percent lower than their branded counterparts.
The tablets will be marketed by Zenith Goldline Pharmaceuticals, an Ivax subsidiary. Shipping to wholesalers has already begun and Ivax expects its terfenadine to be on retail shelves within weeks.
