Transportation and appliances lead the market in consumption of engineering thermoplastics, while manufacturers look for ways to keep costs down. Consumer demand for products that provide lighter weight and greater durability at lower cost is driving the engineering thermoplastic (ETP) market.

In order to combat high resin costs, producers are developing new molding technology. Traditional products such as nylon are experiencing a revival, even as new polymers are being developed.
