Rhodia Sets Venture For Nylon in China

RHODIA IS MOVING forward with its global expansion plans in the nylon sector with a joint venture in China to produce nylon yarn. The partnership, called Yingkou Chemical Fibers Co. Ltd., will be located in Yingkou, in northeast China. Rhodia will have one third share and its parmer, Yingkou Chemical Fibers, will have two-thirds.

The plant will produce 14,000 tons of nylon 6/6 textile yarn per year, mainly for the Chinese market, which is experiencing annual growth of nearly 10 percent. The new facility will be operational at the end of 1998. Rhodia's polyamide division already has six production sites in Asia, including three in China.
