Rhodia Is Selling Its Paper Additives In Move to Shed Non-Core Business.(RHODIA INC. sells North American paper additives and related mining chemicals business to Vinings Industries)

RHODIA INC. has pruned away another peripheral operation and tighten its focus on core specialty chemicals and fibers through the sale of its North American paper additives and related mining chemicals business to Vinings Industries for an undisclosed sum.

Included in the deal are manufacturing facilities in Marietta, Ga., and St. Catharines, Ontario. Although the bulk of the production from these plants is in paper chemicals, they also produce coatings, textile chemicals, surfactants and detergents that have traditionally been sourced to other Rhodia operations. In turn, the two plants obtain raw materials from operations Rhodia is retaining. Agreements between Rhodia and Vinings provide for the continuation of these supply routes.
