E.I. DU PONT de Nemours & Co. is forming a separate nutraceuticals division as part of its life science operation. The division, which begins operations in July, will use $10 million in seed money from DuPont. It will focus on three major areas: plant-derived drugs, food and feed additives, and dietary supplements.

DuPont will use lead compounds derived from its agricultural strength in soy, wheat, rice and corn, an effort that is synergistic with the company's position in agricultural biotech.
