BP Sells Businesses Worth $150 MM in Sales

BP CHEMICALS is selling its chemical distribution businesses in the UK, Germany and Italy, as well as in Australia and New Zealand, to Internatio-Mueller NW. The deal involves three BP specialty chemical distributors in Europe-Honeywell & Stein, Sutton, UK; Otto Aldag, Hamburg, Germany; and B.H.

Schilling, Milan, Italy. BP Chemicals ANZ, which distributes industrial chemicals from several locations across Australasia, is also being sold. The consolidated revenue of all the businesses amounted to $150 million in 1997. "BP Chemicals is focusing increasingly on petrochemical manufacturing," says John Robinson, a BP Chemicals director. "The distribution businesses we have sold make an excellent fit with Internatio-Mueller's current business and future growth plans."
