LG Chemical Opens ABS Plant in China.

SOUTH KOREA'S LG Chemical Ltd. has begun operations at a newly completed ABS resin plant in Ningbo, in China's Zhe Jiang Province. The region is one of the most economically active in China and accounts for 40 percent of the nation's ABS demand. "Demand for ABS in China is about 1 million tons, but the country is able to selfsupply less than 20 percent," says a spokesperson for LG Chemical.

"Therefore, we have a wide range of market." The $70 million joint venture with Yongxing Chemical Company produces 50,000 tons of ABS resin annually to serve the Chinese and foreign ABS markets.
