Chemical Market Reporter, July, 1998 by Carroll, Susan
RHODlA'S DIPHENOLS and aromas enterprise and Japan's Ube Industries Ltd. are forming a joint-venture company, Jade Fine Chemicals Ltd., in Wuxi, east China. The new company will produce downstream diphenols products, particularly Guaiacol, which is used as a synthesis intermediate for flavors and fragrances, food additives and pharmaceutical actives.
The $20 million plant should come on in late 1999. It will operate out of the existing facilities of Rhodia's plant at Wuxi. The venture reflects both companies' geographical expansion strategies and will cater to the growing quality requirements of Asian clients.
