Company prepares for market entry of generics. HAUSER INC. is expanding its supply o bulk paclitaxel to oncology drug manufacturers worldwide as generic producers pre pare to enter the market, And, in a new non-exclusive agreement, the company will supply bulk paclitaxel to Immunex Corporation and its collaborative partner Ivax Corporation.
Food and Drug Administration verified that Immunex's abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for paclitaxel injection is the first to be filed with the agency. Pending certain patent litigation and FDA approval, the paclitaxel injection product would be entitled to 180 days of shared market exclusivity with Bristol-Myers Squibb's (BMS's) Taxol prior to the entry of any other generic paclitaxel products.
