Dow Plans Two Copolymer Polyol Plants.

Increase in CPP capacity follows the company's polyurethane expansions. LOOKING TO ROBUST gains in global demand for polyurethanes, Dow Chemical Company is forging ahead with plans to expand its capacity and demand base for polyurethane chemicals through novel product applications. The company is building two new copolymer polyols (CPP) plants.

One will be in Terneuzen, the Netherlands. It will have a capacity of 165 million pounds and is scheduled to start up in December. The other CPP plant is being built in Freeport, Tex. It will be able to produce more than 100 million pounds of CPP when it is completed in July 1999. The expansions follow a string of investments in Dow's polyurethane business.
