IN TODAY'S ERA of information technology and globalization, it is even more critical for the chemical industry to incorporate enterprise resource planning (ERP) to leverage its resources globally. Customer expectations are growing rapidly, raising the bar for technology, service and quality, and forcing chemical companies to meet the challenge, according to Udo C. Edelmann, director at SAP America's chemical-pharmaceutical business unit.
SAP AG is the leading ERP provider to the chemical and pharmaceutical industries with nearly a 50 percent global market share. Chemical and pharmaceutical clients account for roughly 10 to 13 percent of SAP AG's worldwide revenues.
