Rhodia Acquires GMP Unit in UK From RPR.(Rhone-Poulenc Rorer )(Brief Article)

RHODIA IS EXPANDING its contract manufacturing activities in pharmaceutical intermediates by acquiring its first multipurpose plant that has received Food and Drug Administration approval for current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP). The company is taking over from its sister company Rhone-Poulenc Rorer (RPR) a cGMP unit at Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England.

Fisons planned to use the recently opened plant to manufacture intermediates and active ingredients for asthma products. Rhone-Poulenc acquired Fisons three years ago. The takeover of the Holmes Chapel unit may be the start of a major expansion of Rhodia's fine chemicals operations in the UK.
