Eli Lilly Sued Over Evista.(Brief Article)

Chemical Market Reporter, March, 1999

ZENECA INC. has filed suit against Eli Lilly and Company over Lilly's promotion of its osteoporosis drug, Evista (raloxifene), claiming that Lilly is making misleading claims about the drug's effectiveness in reducing breast cancer. Zeneca alleges that Lilly's sales force is providing misleading information that Evista can be used as an alternative to Nolvadex (tamoxifen citrate), a Zeneca drug that was first approved in 1973 as a hormonal treatment for early and advanced breast cancer and late last year received FDA approval for reducing breast cancer (CMR 11/9/98, pg.
