Ineos Buys MEG From BP Amoco.

INEOS, one of the largest producers of mono ethylene glycol (MEG) in Europe, is taking over EP Amoco Chemicals' antifreeze business, to which it already supplies raw materials. The acquisition will bring Ineos into the antifreeze market, in which consumption has been decreasing in recent years.

Improvements in car engine technology and changes in antifreeze formulations to reduce the frequency of refills, together with mild winters, have weakened demand.
