IN ITS FIRST FULL YEAR of operation, Amersham Pharmacia Biotech (AP Biotech), the joint venture created by the August 1997 merger of the life science businesses of Nycomed Amersham PLC and Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc. (P&U), enjoyed robust growth while achieving cost synergies and meeting its financial and strategic goals.
Nycomed Amersham owns 55 percent of the joint venture and P&U owns 45 percent. Headquartered in Uppsala, Sweden, AP Biotech is a medical biotechnology company that provides innovative systems for medical research, drug development and the production of biopharmaceuticals.
