House Judiciary Committee approves legislation favoring federal courts over state ones. THE HOUSE JUDICIARY Committee has approved, 15-12, a bill intended to make it easier to transfer class action lawsuits out of state courts and into federal ones, where businesses are likely to benefit from more impartial judges and juries.

Chemical Manufacturers Association and other business groups say the legislation is needed to address class action abuses in state courts.
