Rhodia Sets Up a Food Products Subsidiary.

RHODIA HAS SET up a subsidiary Rhodia Food to oversee its food ingredient products throughout the world. The company intends to raise their sales by 50 percent by 2002. The new company, which will be part of Rhodia's consumer specialties division, would have had sales of FFr 2.2 billion ($350 million) last year.

It will include operations in xanthan and base gums, vanillin, ethylvanillin, antioxidants, emulsifiers, hydrocolloids and texturizing agents. At least for the present, it will not manage food phosphates, in which Rhodia is the global market leader and expanding through its takeover of Albright & Wilson.
