CHEMICAL INDUSTRY officials are asking the Environmental Protection Agency to determine whether any of the hundreds of billions of dollars of sensitive business information American companies provide the agency each year has been compromised by attacks on the EPA's computer system. The General Accounting Office (GAO) recently conducted a test of the EPA's computer firewall system, which is designed to keep unauthorized users out of the most sensitive areas of the agency's computer network.
