READING ROOMS for public viewing of "worst-case-scenario" information about off-site consequences of hypothetical chemical plant accidents should begin opening this fall in federal office buildings, according to government officials. An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) official says that at least one of the more than 50 planned reading rooms should open in Washington, D.C., by October.

The reading rooms will be located in existing offices of the EPA and the Department of Justice (DOJ), he adds.
