Final Rule on Worst-Case Scenario Includes Access Restrictions to Data.(Brief Article)

Two GOVERNMENT agencies have issued a final rule that sharply limits public access to sensitive worst-case scenario data about potential accidents at chemical plants and other industrial facilities in the US. The regulation, published August 4 in the Federal Register, is similar to a proposed rule issued in April by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Justice (DOJ).

However, the final version of the rule includes additional security features to further tighten control over access to the data, which stem from offsite consequence analysis.
