AMERICAN CHEMISTRY Council (ACC) named Air Products & Chemicals Inc. as the safest large chemical manufacturing company in the US in 1999. Bayer Corporation was named the second-safest large chemical manufacturing company in the US in 1999 by the ACC. The company increased its rating from 1998's fifth-safest, and has achieved a 44 percent safety improvement over the past five years.
