DOW CHEMICAL is investing in a startup company at Cambridge, England, which is developing a new type of plastic microprocessor to supercede silicon chip circuits in a wide range of mass applications. The new company, Plastic Logic, has developed proprietary technology for using conductive polymers to broaden the use of electronic chips and to considerably reduce the cost of making semiconductors.

The main investor in the project is Amadeus Capital Partners, a Cambridge-based venture capital company. Dow, which will be making its investment through Dow Ventures, has also signed a development agreement with Plastic Logic.
