NEXEN CHEMICALS, formerly CXY Chemicals, will upgrade chlorine production and is expanding its hydrochloric acid business. The investment will further strengthen the company's position in Western Canada and the Western US. The North Vancouver, BC, chloralkali plant is being upgraded to enhance chlorine product quality, which will increase Nexen's ability to convert chlorine to hydrochloric acid.

The burner-grade acid manufacturing facility at the site, which serves Western Canada, is being expanded by 45,000 metric tons, roughly double the current capacity.
