DSM Elastomers Americas has launched a list and transaction price increase for its line of Keltan EPDM in North America. The company attributes the increase to historically high energy and ethylene feedstock costs. Effective March 1, standard terpolymers and copolymers will increase by 6c.
per pound; standard oil extended terpolymers will rise by 4c. per pound; and pelletized terpolymers and copolymers will increase by 6c. "Throughout the second half of 2000, DSM absorbed a dramatic rise in natural gas costs of nearly 400 percent since January 2000, combined with ethylene cost increases upwards of 30 percent since this time last year," notes Lincoln Widmer, marketing director for DSM Elastomers Americas.
