House Ag Committee Addressing US-Canadian Pesticide Pricing Disparity.(Brief Article)

A MEMBER OF. the House Agriculture Committee is considering introducing legislation that would address the disparity in prices between identical pesticides sold in the US and Canada. Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.), told a recent meeting of the Chemical Producers and Distributors Association (CPDA) that he is drafting a bill designed to give American farmers access to pesticides that are sold at cheaper prices in Canada.

North Dakota farmers have been urging the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to allow the purchase of a herbicide, Achieve 8ODG, that is priced lower in Canada than a virtually identical herbicide registered in the US. Rep. Pomeroy introduced a bill in September that would have allowed US farmers to import pesticides from Canada...
