NO such deals announced in the last six months. WITH THE SUN setting on the first quarter of 2001, new M&A activity involving US public chemical companies has been even more conspicuously absent than positive earnings news. Coming off a robust 2000, which saw an acceleration in acquisitions of small to mid-sized public chemical companies, this part of the M&A market has hit a dry spell.
