Toray Boosts Resin In Malaysia.(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

Chemical Market Reporter, July, 2001

TORAY INDUSTRIES Inc. of Japan is increasing the production of ABS resin at its facility in Malaysia by 30 percent, or 50,000 additional tons per year. The company plans to invest $16.1 million to upgrade the Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd plant, with operations set to commence in July 2002.

The expansion will elevate the Toray group's total ABS resin capacity to 290,000 tons per year, placing it on par with top-ranking manufacturers such as Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. and Techno Polymer, Ltd. While demand for the resins in Malaysia remains sluggish, the hike will meet growing requests from China as well as from Japanese firms throughout Asia.
