Bain & Company's annual management tools and techniques survey show that executives select classic, proven management tools to address fundamentals of cost and corporate direction over new economy tools. The most widely used tools cited by senior managers in 2000 remained the same from 1999: strategic planning (76 percent), mission and vision statements (70 percent) and benchmarking (69 percent).
