THE ENVIRONMENTAL Protection Agency (EPA) last week encouraged US industry to make greater use of cogeneration technology, issuing draft guidance clarifying Clean Air Act requirements that would make it faster and easier for companies to build combined heat and power (CHP) facilities. The chemical industry, which has invested more than $20 billion in cogeneration facilities since 1978, stands to benefit from the changes, according to officials at the American Chemistry Council (ACC).
