Overall growth for the 30 member countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation (OECD) came to a halt at zero percent in the third quarter, according to preliminary estimates. Among the G7 countries, four showed negative growth in the third quarter--the US (-0.3 percent), Japan (-0.5 percent), Canada (-0.2 percent) and Germany (-0.1 percent).

Positive growth was registered by France (0.5 percent), the UK (0.5 percent) and Italy (.2 percent). In annualizing growth, OECD member countries registered overall growth in the third quarter of 0.8 percent, the lowest since the beginning of 1995, the first year the data were tracked.
