THE NATIONAL Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has enthusiastically endorsed President George W Bush's call for the Senate to bring his top trade priority--Trade Promotion Authority (TPA)--to the floor for a vote by April 22. "Setting a certain date is just what we need to move things forward," says NAM executive vice president Michael Baroody.

"The president knows how important trade is to our economic welfare and global leadership, and he simply must have TPA to get the US off the sidelines and into the game of opening world markets along with our European and Asian competitors' Mr. Baroody remarks.
