DoJ rolls out security tool.(Department of Justice)(Brief Article)

THE DEPARTMENT of Justice (DoJ) last week issued a 12-step assessment tool to help chemical manufacturers evaluate potential security threats and vulnerabilities at their plants. The American Chemistry Council (ACC) welcomed the release, saying it will require its 180 member companies to use the DoJ methodology or a similar tool to assess site security.

"Our member companies will put this new tool to immediate use as part of our ongoing efforts to do everything practical to enhance security at our facilities," says ACC president Fred Webber. Under a new security code adopted by ACC earlier this month, member have been prioritizing their sites into one of four tiers based on risk.
