AMGEN Inc. reports that the European Commission recommended approval of Aranesp (darbepoetin alfa) for treating anemia in adult cancer patients with non-hematological malignancies receiving chemotherapy. Amgen's Neulasta (pegfilgrastim) was also recommended for reducing the duration of neutropenia and the incidence of febrile neutropenia patients treated with cytotoxic drugs. ELI LILLY and Company's Xigris (drotrecogin alfa (activated)) has been recommended for EC approval for treating adult patients with severe sepsis with multiple organ failure.

IMCLONE Systems Inc. reports that the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations has scheduled a hearing for June 13, 2002 on its colorectal cancer drug Erbitux (cetuximab).
