DOW CORNING Corp. and Freemont, Calif.-based NeoPhotonics Corp. have formed a strategic alliance to develop the "next generation of photonic crystal technology." No financial agreements or terms were discussed by the partners, but they say their expertise in the fields of nanotechnology, photonics, and silicon chemistry will enable them to develop and commercialize photonic crystal optical devices for use in optical telecommunications as well as in other potential applications.
