THE GLOBAL biocides market has seen a fair amount of change over the past several years marked by the passage of European Biocides Product Directive (BPD) and increased pressure to consolidate. One of the key changes has been the emergence of Dow Biocides, which is comprised of the former units of Dow Chemical Company, Union Carbide Corp. and Angus Chemical Company. Having completed the integration of these units in November 2001, Dow is poised to increase its presence in the global biocides market.
