RAISIO IS seeking further acquisitions to expand its paper chemicals operations after an agreement with Rhodia to take over full control of their Latexia joint venture in paper latex. The two companies have reached a deal under which Raisio will acquire Rhodia's stake in the 50/50 venture, which has annual sales of around [epsilon] 200 million ($195 million) and is the world's second largest supplier of latex for paper coating.
Raisio will also take over Rhodia's paper latex assets in France, Spain, Indonesia and Brazil. The deal will raise Raisio's paper chemicals sales to around [epsilon] 500 million, 60 percent of which will be in paper latex.
