DRIVEN BY the economic slowdown, overall spending for information technology (IT) has slowed. While a review of three key market areas--customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP)--shows more cautious IT investment, the need to realize cost efficiencies remains a major reason for IT spending across market segments. Worldwide CRM spending will remain nearly flat for the remainder of 2002 but will resume growth in 2003 and reach $19.6 billion by 2005.
