BP Australia to close Amoco business. (Roundup).(Brief Article)

Chemical Market Reporter, September, 2002

BP Australia will close the Amoco Chemicals Proprietary Ltd. (ACPL) business in the Sydney suburb of Liverpool by December 31. "This situation has been brought about by a combination of rising input prices and falling product prices, which continue to be driven down by overseas-based competitors," the company says.

"Detailed analysis has shown that the current situation can only become worse." The ACPL plant converts polypropylene resin into fabrics for carpets, civil engineering and other industrial and agricultural applications. Roughly 80 employees will be affected.
