GILEAD SCIENCES has received FDA approval for antiviral agent Hepsera (adefovir dipivoxil) to treat chronic hepatitis B. Morgan Stanley analyst Caroline Copithorne raised 2002 to 2004 earnings per share estimates to 24 cents and $1.31, respectively, based on a six-month jump-start to launch.

Sales could reach about $600 million, aided by South America/Asia sales partner GlaxoSmithKline PLC.
