BASELL USA Inc. and ConocoPhillips have signed an agreement under which Basell will be the exclusive purchaser and marketer of the polypropylene resins produced at ConocoPhillips' new Bay-way plant in Linden, N.J. The companies are not disclosing the terms of their agreement, which ends several years of industry speculation as to how the facility's polypropylene would be marketed.

A ConocoPhillips official says the plant is nearing completion and should start up early next year at a nameplate of 775 million pounds per year. It will be owned and operated by Tosco Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Conoco-Phillips, and feature Unipol technology from Dow Chemical Company.
