Roche has made another aggressive bid for market share in the chronic hepatitis C segment. Just days after announcing the resolution of its patent dispute with ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Ribapharm Inc. over the hepatitis C treatment ribavirin, Roche announced the list price of Copegus, its version of the drug, would undercut that of the competing brand, Ribapharm's Rebetol, by 43 percent.

The news hit both Ribapharm, whose shares tumbled roughly 17 percent, and Schering-Plough Corp., which holds the exclusive worldwide marketing rights for the use of Rebetol in the treatment of hepatitis C. Analysts expect the move will force Schering-Plough to slash Rebetol's pricing to match that of Copegus. As such, JPMorgan dropped its revenue targets for Rebetol by $500...
