Genencor International Inc. has acquired Rhodia's brewing and enzyme business for [euro]9 million ($9.4 million) in cash. The acquisition includes technology, product lines and personnel. The buyout also broadens Genencor's product portfolio and technical service capabilities in the food, feed and specialty enzyme market sectors. No facilities are included in the transaction.
"This acquisition is a great opportunity to build our food, feed and specialties capabilities and further positions us to capture additional share of the estimated $600 million to $700 million worldwide enzyme market in these sectors," says Thomas J. Pekich, group vice president of bioproducts for Genecor.
