DEGUSSA AG's methacrylates business unit is standardizing its production process for n-butyl methacrylate and isobutyl methacrylate in Worms, Germany. The process is being converted to a continuous operation based on ACH-technology, increasing its output. Because of a sustained increase in the demand for methyl methacrylate, the company will also expand the capacity of its plant in Wesseling, Germany, by 10,000 tons per year to a nameplate of 95,000 tons during a scheduled maintenance shutdown next summer.

"Similar scheduled shutdowns are being made in Worms during March and October, solely to carry out the necessary maintenance and repair work," the company says. "This product optimization will enable Degussa to meet the growing demand of our customers...
